Studied...well, not really

The first Home Study appointment went great! Our social worker was nice, and though she didn't compliment my choice in shirt, she didn't ask me when the last time I showered was either (good thing).

We are buried under a mountain of paperwork, but we are ready to plow through. She is eager to help us complete the home study process as quickly as is possible for us, which is a blessing. Our next appointment is in a couple of weeks (provided we get our part rolling). And that is the one that will really make me sweat because it is at our house and she will actually be studying us.

So, from now until then I can be found filling things out, making copies, signing my life away, being fingerprinted, baby proofing my house (some might suggest I'm about 3 1/2 years late on that one), and calling the fire department to come "inspect." For some reason, the fireman makes me more nervous that any other part of this process....

...well, that, and she wants to talk to Simon. Simon, who when recently asked what he thinks of getting a new brother, suggested we just "pretend Talya is a boy." Simon, who has been known to scream at strangers, "I WILL NOT TALK TO YOU!" Good thing our nice social workers seems fully apprised on the fact that he's three.

I am so glad the first part went well. I have been thinking about you guys and praying that everything goes well. I bet Simon is going to wrap that social worker around his finger. He is too cute to resist!
